Work and education

"There are no secrets to success. It's the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure." - Colin Powell

A purpose-and-values-driven, people-focused communications leader, I got my start in advertising agencies and PR firms, made a switch to local government, and then to larger companies. Over the span, I covered the gamut: public relations, media relations, community outreach, executive comms... I also worked in marketing and for non-profits. It all adds up to an extensive toolkit.

My work history exemplifies my love for learning; beyond adding to my skills, I fulfill this in part by exploring different industries: travel, tourism, hospitality, maritime, health and wellness, food and agriculture, arts and culture, retail, and technology. I continually seek new ways to learn and grow.

A savvy writer and storyteller, my writing encompasses web content, leadership messaging, social media and blog posts, short stories, newsletter articles, reports, op-eds, fact sheets, direct mail, e-books, non-fiction manuscripts, and more. I write for different people in different 'voices', simplifying complex information to be relevant to various audiences.

I attribute my success to what I consider my superpowers: Curiosity, building relationships, and collaboration.
