Communications and engagement
"The difference between the right word and the almost right word is the difference between lightning and the lightning bug." - Mark Twain
I'm a savvy communicator with a wide range of skills, solid EQ, coaching, and marketing sense. Let's talk about how I can help. To learn more about what I offer, see what I've done on my work experience page. Or contact me any time.
Why work with a communications pro?
A lot of us are good at helping others... but ourselves? Not so much. Sometimes our blind spots get in the way, or we have other priorities, or maybe we know that others are just better at this than we are. Comprehensive strategic planning focused on what you want to achieve, followed by expert execution and follow-through can make all the difference.
To meet your business objectives more quickly and efficiently--reach a new audience, build relationships with current customers, clients, or constituents, strengthen your market position, facilitate change, or manage your reputation (for example...)--hire a pro.
Here's what you get if you work with me.
Leadership. A trusted advisor, I take a big-picture approach to problem-solving; I have a proven ability to observe, listen, build trust, shape, empower, inspire, and coach.
Skill. My extensive background includes strategic planning, creating campaigns, crafting messaging that resonates, managing projects, navigating change, and developing content online and off.
Experience. I'm a seasoned professional who's worked in both public and private sectors; internal, external, and executive; with corporate, government, and non-profit clients; in advertising and pr firms, B2B and B2C; in a variety of settings. I follow trends but bring fresh ideas to my projects. I think strategically with your goals in mind, using both new and traditional tools to connect, influence change, and solve problems.
Savvy. Perceptive and insightful, I have a knack for connecting with people from various backgrounds and I'm told I have a high level of cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
Varied. My broad client and industry background informs my work, from which I draw inspiration when approaching complex problems. Practice and interest areas span wellness and healthcare, maritime, food and agriculture, environmental sustainability, hospitality and entertainment, retail and tourism, and culture.
Passion. I'm energized when I can dive in and help solve problems. A few passions: ensuring that employee experience is as great as customer experience. Being mindful of community impact, knowing what we do anywhere impacts people everywhere. Helping people love their work and love their lives, find more success (on their terms), more joy, and better relationships. It's a thrill to connect dots and bridge gaps through shared experience and storytelling and meet people where they are - figuratively or literally.
Jargon-free. Lastly, while it's occasionally appropriate, jargon is rarely effective, and I aim to avoid it whether writing or talking.
